At a time when water conservation is such an important issue, alternate means of irrigation watering needed to be explored.

One avenue that is currently being adopted by a number of municipalities around Victoria and other states, is subsurface drip irrigation for various applications.

Street scapes and other urban areas as well as sporting facilities and recreational areas are being considered for this form of watering and many organisations are monitoring the success rate of sites using this method.

Aquatrad has recently been involved in a sports turf project using subsurface drip and have designed and built a subsurface drip irrigation injection machine specifically for the task. The machine rolls out 4 lines of driptube at a time, injecting them to a pre-set depth below grade. The machine can be adapted to suit a number of subsurface products and row spacings.

This particular project was a newly constructed ground, however, the machine can also be used just as effectively on established, grassed, areas.
