Even though much of Australia has received higher than average rainfall throughout the Spring & Summer of 2010 / 2011, and in fact many areas suffered disasterous flooding, it is important to understand that the need to use water wisely is still be a very important message for us all.
For instance, in spite of all of the wet weather seen in the Eastern States of Australia; during the same period, WA has seen very hot and dry conditions that has lead to bushfires in that State and one of the hotest and driest seasons on record including a number of more than 30 days in a row with temeratures over 30 degrees.
In many States the drought has been well and truly broken while in others it is still officially in place and so we need to be trying to save as much of this very precious resource as we can; not just during times of drought, but everyday.
